This is pretty good, but it does give me the shits that the vocals always follow the guitar lines. Exactly like the solos on Weezer's Green album.

Yeah I was just about to comment that the whole vocal line following the lead line in pretty much every song gets a bit boring after a while

I think the microtones are hard to crack at the first listen, but if you are used to Ravi Shankar, mexican organilleros and Middle Eastern folk music this is the rock for you.

Some songs are a bit too repetitive, especially Rattlesnake. The second half of the song has some very nice moments, but the first half is tedious, and it goes on and on and on.
Open Water and Sleep Drifter have similar problems with the repetition, but they're good enough. I would only skip Rattlesnake many of the times I listen to this album.
Melting has a great middle part, Billabong Valley is great in its weirdness, the last 4 songs are great too.

yeah over-repetition brings down a few songs here but only a small fraction, the rest are great

I wish those songs would be better structured like on Polygondwanaland, that is a great album.
But still most songs on here have a very nice sound.
