It ended up being better than i thought it would be, but its still a bottom tier DH album, with only their self-titled being worse. Also, how the fuck did that many people sign off on having the snare drum that fucking high in the mix.

It's so weird to me that they seemed to be unhappy with the ST, made this, which is fantastic, then went back to the same producer that did the ST and did a lot of the exact same things that made that album so weak. New album is better, but just barely.

Perpetual is soulless but it sounds like a bunch of different DH eras done poorly. My memory of the s/t is that it has absolutely zero DH dna to it and is just a horrifying collection of generic scene tropes. Gonna jam it now to punish myself.
Edit: One song in on the s/t and it's truly terrible lol
