Yes, I think some good political music will come out of the current climate, I just think it's still very early for some very genuine and concise political commentary to come out regarding the here and now, had DM dropped this in another year I think this record would have even more of a political tone.

So far I've only really enjoyed 'Cover Me', the political stuff is very 'let's just fit these lyrics and all pretend they scan good and sound pleasing musically' - a bit clunky, musically and in terms of the message.
'Coooooooooorporationzzz get the breakzzzzz, keeping nearly everything they make...' Snoozy, on the nose, nothing going on that's particularly interesting musically.

Ok, in the battle of the middle hitters today this, The Shins and Spoon all ended up on a 3 rating so to rank them we need to go decimal:
1. Spoon [3.1]
2. Depeche Mode [3.0]
3. The Shins [2.8]

Finished my first listen, I'm pretty optimistic. Eternal, Poison Heart, So Much Love and Fail are probably everything I could ask them in 2017. Def better than Delta Machine (as a whole)

was "Fail" the first f-bomb on a DM record?
in any case, only listened through once, but I loved it and can already see myself liking it more than the last two as a whole as well. "You Move" is so fucking cool and a coupla the synth sounds they got on here were particularly pleasing

oh shit they broke out "Corrupt"
wasn't expecting that one especially since they all but entirely glossed over Sounds of the Universe on the last tour
"Pain that I'm Used To" now fuck yeaaaaah
Edit: just teased like they were going into a newer song then dropped World in My Eyes on mothafuckas. this is so good so far
Oh yeah they're definitely making up with SOTU on this record, Martin's doing "My Little Soul" now

I feel like individually these are all pretty good tracks.
Together it feels so disjointed I can't even
It's like politics oh yeah sex oh yeah breakups whoops I almost forgot optimism yay

I can get behind politics, sex and optimism

it doesn't feel disjointed to me
Delta felt disjointed to me, though I liked that on an individual song basis
going from politics to sex is hardly a first for Depeche Mode

@Sabrutin - Regarding PtA's second half, I enjoy those songs when I listen to them, but they don't make me come back to them. The first half is ace though. Anyway, I'm the odd one out and have Exciter in my top 3 DM albums.

This is the best new DM album I've listened to in a long while. It doesn't have the highs (or the lows) of DM in their heyday, but I guess that's to be expected.

This kind of loud ass production feels appropriate with the feel of the album but it's a tad grating at times. Other than that this is a win for me!

yoooo didn't know this was streaming I gotta check

Loved this album. "Where's the Revolution" and "Poison Heart" grabbed me.
