Well I figured Sorrow was better just b/c it's the best, but how do they compare sound-wise/song-wise

after one listen (and i wasn't really focusing on it) there's a bigger emphasis on the vocals here which really isn't my cup of coffee
|
| |
Well that's a shame, part of the appeal of S&E was how they were used sparingly and with precision.

[2] I agree man. I can see why this would be a turn off for some people, but it sits nicely with me.

haven't heard this band before but really liking this
bonus: that mountain scenery looks like it's straight out of BotW (prolly cause I've been spending too much time playing that game but still...the resemblance is uncanny)

If all doom metal sounds like this I think I found the next genre I'm falling in love with.

There's barely doom here.

Haven't played a Zelda game since Twilight Princess tbh

"If all doom metal sounds like this I think I found the next genre I'm falling in love with."
Usually there aren't clean vocals through the entirety of a doom record, but still if you want some good doom recs
-My Dying Bride's Turn Loose the Swans
-Draconian's Arcane Rain Fell/Where Lovers Mourn/Sovran
-Ahab's Call of the Wretched Sea/The Boats of Glen Carig
-Candlemass's Epicus Doomicus Metallicus/Nightfall

Awesome. Thanks! I keep hearing about Candlemass. Finishing up the newest October Tide album right now. Is that more traditional doom?

Yeah dude, as is My Dying Bride although they have some harsh vocals in there. Also I always forget but close to anything by Katatonia is good too.

I've only listened to the last two or three Katatonia albums and I liked the newest one the most by far.

definitely check out Watching from a Distance if you enjoy this

Vocals sheeeeeesh, this is so good. Listened to it once through and I think I like the first track best. Not a fan of the slow prodding doom style when it goes on for too long, first track rocks though.

This is one of the most accessible doom metal records I've ever heard. Not in a bad way, but this would be a good gateway album.
