"Yeah I rate mostly based on metacritic now (4.1 = 82), so in general that approach has inflated my ratings...but this truly deserves it. It's a very tight, cohesive, and fun pop record."

Metacritic normalizes ratings so even if this site were known for being lower than the average it'll scale it up a bit which is why 40's and 20's sometimes don't weigh as much. Still this deserves like an 80 for sure. I think it's their best album cohesively and it's tons of fun. Still love "Futures" and "Anklebiters" the most ala carte. The latter being quite possibly their best song, imo.

Still preferred the s/t, which I know will be an unpopular opinion...

Just not as much heart or variety on this one. "26" is absolutely killer tho

Neek, I also prefer the self-titled still, but this is awesome.

maybe it'll grow on me but first time around this was reeally boring, especially compared to their last album. No real standout tracks, no climaxes worth mentioning.

No post-rock apocalypse at the end like last time either.

ye I really liked that part. There was a nice instrumental jam thing toward the end, but it can't compare.

After this album I'm pretty sure this band is the modern day Fleetwood Mac but with more of a long term upside.

never liked that indie path both farro bros have gone and now paramore follows. i like "tell me how" though, but i guess this is the end of paramore for me. doesn't get me high anymore

on first listen this was pretty boring, but has gotten better with every listen since then. I think the aaron feature would've been great if it was done sort of like hayley's feature on fox's dream of the log flume, but I still just don't understand why they handled it that way at all. oh well

me neither - especially given there's nothing cryptic about the rest of the record...oh well.

agreed this is a massive grower. first listen was like a 2.5, by the third listen it was a 3.6, then by the 5th/6th it was where I have it now.
