Is this really that bad?

Eh, idk. I like a few songs on this, like "Heavy" and the t/t. One or two others. Not normally my style, but relatable. It's like pop/electronic-ish.
Some songs (Like Good Goodbye) I genuinely think are awful though. Have you heard any other newer LP? Or just Hybrid Theory/Meteora? Cuz it sounds nothing like those lol

Mostly Hybrid Theory/Meteora but dabbling in the other stuff Hunting Party is solid, Living Things and Thousand Suns are meh, and Minutes has a few guilty pleasures. Never listened to this bc that average is a massive ouch and I don't want my love for this band to be sullied lol

I like a good bit of songs from Minutes to Midnight tbf.
But that's the last album I heard in full by these guys. I've heard some songs from all the rest of the albums, and liked some of it (and hated some lol). I wanna say since you like some of those albums you should at least like some songs on here, but I could be completely wrong given that I haven't jammed any of them in full.
Seems like people are pretty hard on all their later albums tbf. I do know a lot of people irl who love this (and stuff like Hunting Party). But maybe wait for someone else to weigh in, lol.

I like the album. It's pop, but I still like the melodies and most of the lyrics.

Agreed. Feel like this never got a really fair shake, especially for what it is in context.

there was a brief span of time after chester passed where i was convinced in context there was something here and it isnt like 1 worthy or anything but it being pop isnt reallllly the problem. now that i have a much much wider frame of the genre, its unfort a pretty poor example of it. melodies here are imo half baked and devoid of any personality at all sans like 3 songs. a lot of the songs i used to like didnt stand out to me at all anymore last jam
they coulda nailed an album like this (what are you worth shows that) and maybe they could have later gotten there but it is a pretty sad album in every sense of the word

Not sure if I said this before, but One More Light is actually the album that got me into Linkin Park. I had just joined the Navy in early 2017, and I was on my first underway when Chris Cornell passed away. I spent most of my port visit in Rhode Island walking around and jamming Soundgarden tunes in Cornell's memory. But a few months after I returned to Virginia, I had learned of Chester's untimely passing. And at that time, One More Light was still trending, so I decided to check out its big single Heavy. I was completely enamored with Chester's raw vulnerability and vocal abilities, and that's what made me check out the band's back catalogue. And goddamn, I'm so glad I did

Strange way to get into LP but all that matters is that you did ;-)

Pretty sure I’ve heard you say that before Koris but it’s still baffling to me. You’re a similar age to me I reckon — where were you in middle school?!

I kind of get that though. I listened to classic rock in middle school because I was kind of socially awkward and just identified closely with my parents. I missed out on a lot until I became an older teenager. For example, I discovered Eminem in my 20s lol.
