Really Sowing? You actually defend this album? Even by pop standards it's cheesy and boring.

Well that's why I'm defending it - I did not find it to be as boring. I felt especially compelled because I don't see this as an atrocity; merely a run of the mill pop exercise at worst. At the end of the day my only real defense for this is that I enjoyed it, which is something I can't project as a reason that you should like it - but definitely as proof that differing opinions exist and that one should always give a record a chance before succumbing to sensationalism and crowning anything bad as "the worst ever" and anything good as "the best ever." Another example is the Train record I 1'd earlier this year. Yes I hated it, but even for me it doesn't deserve the lowest average in sputnik history (a 1.1). Just attempting to spread individualism. It's OK to 1 OK Computer and 5 Beyonce, if that's truly how you feel. Rep yourself.

Right on Sowing.

Plus, if you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation of a murder trial, this will play wonderfully in an insane defense.

They finally reached the spot, I'm starting to hate those suckers who enjoy listening to shit like the chainsmokers.

Yesterday I had a discussion with some dumbass in youtube about the maximus fest here in Argentina, to the point he said that "slayer are a bunch of old men who plays awful music" and that "linkin park is brilliant compared to them"

This Vulture article on Linkin Park 'selling out' is worth a read. Seems Chester doth protest too much: http://bit.ly/2qz11jQ

Anyway, first track seems OK.

Edit: hey Shinoda's rap on 'Good Goodbye' is his best verse ever IMO.

Edit: 'Talking to Myself' is great :D

huh, this is an interesting read. dunno if I quite agree with you that people are complaining solely that Linkin Park are changing their sound, though - if they were, we'd be shitting on the new Paramore without abandon, but that album has gone over exceptionally well here (and for good reason!). I've only heard Good Goodbye and Heavy, and really disliked both, so I doubt I'll be checking out the album in full.

shameless self-promo I also wrote about Heavy for a music site I run at school https://lp.princeton.edu/linkin-parks-magic-is-gone-cb9045d7824

I've finally listened to several songs off the album, the bashing has nothing to do with its quality. First, I wouldn't be surprised to see it get a 3/5 average if it wasn't called Linkin Park.

I think that what's behind the hate is that the album aims at appealing to the Z Generation. It can be heard through the choice of the electro noises, the singing, the melodies, the lyrics etc...

People talking all of that and this again above acting like Mike has a wealth of decent rhymes to his name. The flow pattern in 'Good Goodbye' is at least a bit abstract and incentive.

Anyway 'Sorry for Now' was the only real clunker for me on first listen.

Edit: I've never listened to pop trap like Migos so maybe it all sounds like that nowadays _(ツ)_/¯

To give this album anything higher than a 1.5 rating is blasphemy.....The Hunting Party restored my faith, and this just completely obliterated it.

The fact that this is classified under "pop music" doesn't excuse it from being total garbage, You seem to be reviewing and scoring this in the context of pop music, and not music as a whole, and you can't really do that if you wanna be objective man... Regardless of context this album is a boring neutered, sterilized, lifeless dreck, and no amount of saying "Well if you look at it this way..." can change that.
