you may stand by the statements and thats fine. but the point is that those statements have been made so many times before that its tiring to read and also hilariously ironic. youll find that ive said this in the comments section of many a review:
"the only thing more stale than postrock is a review discussing the staleness of postrock"
its a trite cliche.
and i know you say you love postrock which is cool, but the use of the phrase "sleepwalking to its bitter end" implies otherwise. it derides the genre for being mostly stale through statements that themselves are, by this point, equally stale. thats the irony.

again, i havent read the review yet so i mean no harm by my comments. im sure your review reads wonderfully otherwise.

read the review, I feel like other than that sentence or two it reads really nicely and his fascination with the soundscapes on this album seems to be his thesis rather than "post rock is stale but this isnt".
despite how cliche the statement is it's really only one sentence of the entire review...I think people are focusing a bit too much on it.

well done jack

Not really seeing the appeal.
It's pretty and all but falls into the same problems as most post rock.

Minty - trite cliche is redundant. It's like saying "he's a dumb idiot"

Looking forward to listening to this

Gyro if you are intrigued I'd suggest listening to Goodbye Enemy Airship (where they started experimenting a bit with their style going from a psychy jam band to their definitve tones) as well as You You're a History in Rust (where they blended a lot more folk and acoustic vibes into their craft for a very playful result). Maybe those could tickle your fancy

ffs, even if it's not in the review people insist on bringing up the state of the post rock genre. Yea, a lot of post rock sounds the same. Just like a lot of hip hop sounds the same, or pop, or metalcore, or post hardcore, etc. There are plenty of experimental post rock albums out there, just as there are plenty of albums that sound like run of the mill post rock. User JS19 basically made my point already, but many albums in a general genre are going to have similar sounds, and you either like the album or you don't.

LandDiving sidestepped the 'post-rock review cliches' pretty well with this write-up

Alright, Sputnik should implement a checkbox before someone submits their review that says "I have not mentioned the state of post-rock in this review" as a term and condition, and then we shall never mention the topic again.
One of the songs on this album has a siren's blast, and every single time I hear it I stop and go "oh, wow".

But, the reviewer did not mention that. If I recall correctly, it was you that brought it up on the first page.

Anyway, War on Torpor is one of the best tracks I've heard all year and review gets a pos from me.

review said postrock is sleepwalking to the bitter end. and yeah i brought it up as a joke because its pretty much a meme now. but anyway, i'll stop beating a dead horse.

haha thanks guys!
and yeah it's literally like a sentence so i don't really understand the fixation. if it helps i don't really think post-rock is sleepwalking to its end, i just used that line to emphasise how vital this album feels. again, i take all comments on board for future reference (:

I actually like that sentence: "post-rock is sleepwalking to its end" great imagery there.
Also agree with Prancy, War on Torpor is a tank.
