the album material is way better than the EP material for me

ok, maybe add some stuff from this ("K.", "Each Time You Fall in Love and maybe "Apocalypse") and some of the new singles like "Neon Moon", "Crush" and "Sesame Syrup", and I guess that would be the right way to go with a dope compilation.

Opera House, Kiss It Off Me, Touch, Pure and Young & Dumb gotta be on any Best Of for this band

The three I mentioned off the new one are as good as anything else they’ve done for me

They aren't bad per se, just nothing special, and doesn't touch me on the same way their other stuff did. And then there's the thing that it's the same kind of thing again, which is getting tiring..

"Heavenly" is my least favorite on the new album :/
"Touch" and "Don't Let Me Go" remain my favorites on there, though I really like "Pure," "Kiss It Off Me," "You're the Only Good Thing," and to a somewhat lesser extent "Hentai" too
For the sake of rounding off the tracklist since I've already mentioned 7 out of 9 songs: title track and "Falling in Love" are p gud

I remember when I first noticed that you liked me back...
Greg's delivery of that line is perfect, what a way to open an album.

these are truly troubling times

Hentai off the new one is lovely. Lyrics are absolute fucking rot but it’s a nice tune.

The lyrics are supposed to be 'in character' in their defence - a lot of people overlook that
I think he's got the airhead 'first puppy love' mentality down pat
Lyrics are what tip his stuff over to something close to genius for me, like Brian Molko penning teen romances

In character my arse

They are, that’s the whole thing - the bloke’s not actually a teenage fuccboi stalking girls wearing peach baseball caps licking slurpees.
Pitchfork still don’t know how to handle it all morally speaking. It’s a bit of a joke, a bit of an affectionate critique of that time in life. There’s a lot of humour in his lyrics -I’m surprised so many people don’t get it

It goes well with the androgynous vocals, definitely strong Brian Molko ‘Burger Queen’ style vibes but even more self knowing
He might be writing from the perspective of his younger self but I’m not so sure, pretty sure it’s exaggerated
