I would've liked if there were less breakdowns or at least if they weren't so utterly boring. The one in the middle of Withered is the worst, it kind of ruins the song for me.

On the other hand, Delusion is the best song I've heard so far this year.

I would generally agree with you, but this band obviously is pissed off and breakdowns are often a strong way of expressing that.

Regardless this is so far the metalcore AotY for me

I've got nothing against the breakdowns themselves. For example, the one in the middle of Night Terrors is pretty good, but at least it's way more fun than the one in the middle of Withered, which just breaks the fantastic flow of the track in my opinion and not in a fun way. It's a real pity, because the song is nothing short of incredible up to that point.

And I agree, the album is this year's best metalcore release so far.

Not trying to pick a fight, but they are quite different from Vildhjarta and I wouldn't even consider this album djent. It might have elements, but in my opinion, this is mainly a metalcore release with hints of deathcore here and there.

And I'm starting to dig it more and more. Delusion is such a beast of a song, I just can't get enough of it. Rest is great too, but this one really stands out to me.

This album really grew on me, I love every track to bits. Well, except Forget Me, which is not a bad song, but it feels out of place compared to the rest of the record. I've been listening to this and Forbidden to Fly's Resilience in tandem, and I found that they mash pretty well together. Both releases mix deathcore with metalcore (and occasionally post-hardcore), and while this has much more metalcore, FtF leans towards deathcore a bit more. Also, there's little to no breakdowns on Resilience and the sound is much clearer (the guitars sound especially crisp, which might not be to everyone's taste, but I love it). Not trying to promote, but if anyone's interested, I wholeheartedly recommend checking them out.

(This got a bit long, sorry for that..)
