they're pretty popular surprisingly enough

I would join this band for the money, not gonna lie lol

This or new Machine Head? The singles from this were atrocious, I bet this was worse.

this is somehow better than new machine head

Haven't jammed this in a long time but iirc this had a couple of killer tunes (though diluted in cheese).
New Machine Head was pure boredom. So I think we agree?

I think crappy melodeath is inherently more aesthetically appealing than crappy groove metal so I don't think it's that hard for this to be better even though I basically dislike every track. At the end of the day at least this has some melodies and solos that aren't bad.

Couldn't agree more man.

Loomis is the only redeeming thing about this
|

What did he end up doing for this album? Was he allowed to contribute riffs?

sure as hell doesn’t sound like it

I love how everybody doesn't blame Alissa but the rest of the band

"sure as hell doesn’t sound like it"
I wouldn't be surprised if it was all Amott. That guy is known for having a big head.
I'm assuming Loomis just contributed diminished arpeggio shredzzz

"I love how everybody doesn't blame Alissa but the rest of the band"
uhh, why is it her fault? This is only her second album with them. Not to mention she's a kick-ass vocalist.

she has basically zero input outside of lyrics; this is all the Amott show.

Yeah Loomis only got to put in a couple shreds. Alissa is definitely talented as well, she proved it on Prisoners, but she's really held back here.
|
| |
What I meant is that it's not her fault that the band went on a downward spiral
