'makes me want to scream ‘get a fuckin job’ into this fellas foundation pampered face'
Probably the greatest and most consistent artist of the last 20 years of music (within the realm of indie) :D

This’ll be in the 4.5+ ballpark from me, we all know that. Takes a month to digest Destroyer albums so I’m not taking anyone’s opinion seriously for another 30 days and they’ll have to have spun the album at least thirty times.
Then we talk.

Kaputt is a hard 5, but i always feel embarrassed playing it for newcomers. Always get the comment "guy sounds like a creep" and he really does tbh

He’s a ‘you hate everything he sings until you love everything he sings’ vocalist for sure.
What did Bowie sing about Bobby Dylan? He had a voice like ‘sand and glue’. Bejar is one of them, Dylan after all has a technically hideous voice but once he’s got you he’s got you.

The vocals on Kaputt worked surprisingly well for me right off the bat, though it may help that I was primed for his voice by a couple New Pornographers albums. The delivery on Streethawk hasn't been quite as immediate though... We'll see where this falls.

Anyway, not sure what’d be wrong with Doof 5’ing this when half the site has either 5’d ‘Melodrama’ or ‘DAMN’

This is an album, for sure. Sounds like depeche mode

Depeche Mode but without generic lyrics...nope, I can’t quite imagine it ;D

Why are you referring to yourself in the third person? I'm not a fan of the preliminary 5-and-change-to-what-I-actually-think-later, but I change my scores around probably more than anyone (just later on after it's been out for some time) so I can't complain.
Anyway, this sounded good on first spin so I will definitely be revisiting a few times and rating at some point this week. I never heard Poison Season but Kaputt was gorgeous.

Sowing, it’d only drop a .5, so really the 5 is harmless.
I only have three albums from 2017 currently 5’d - at least one will probably drop down to a 4.5 in time.
The third person thing is me laughing at the idea I’m predictable in my taste/behaviour. I like the concept, so I like to rip into ‘Doof’ too.

Stayed up for this to be released last night and I'm a little disappointed it isn't Poison Season Part II, but I'll get over it . . . The 80s keyboards are throwing me off a little. That last song sounds like the Pet Shop Boys to me!

Depeche Mode...Pet Shop Boys...New Order...not necessarily a bad thing.
It has that retro synth sheen of stuff like Gunship/the 'Drive' soundtrack that so many current albums have too.
Thing is, I think the song writing and lyrics are going to prove irresistible on this in the long run. Four listens and I'm already enjoying the album a lot.

Haven't heard Poison Season but this isn't too big a departure from Kaputt...how do you feel about that one Twig?

I agree Boney. This sounds like a step back to Kaputt to me (at least on first listens) . . . I like Kaputt, but it didn't grab me like it did other people. Poison Season is the one that pushed all my buttons.
