tbh I’d rather listen to nu metal. At least that can convey an emotion beyond “I am young and feel nonspecific young people things”

@Ebola I randomly skipped to "Netflix" too and holy hell. It really thinks it's something deep doesn't it? And yeah I've actually been hearing "Weak" in my gym for weeks and it's absolutely painful. Nice to have a face to direct my hatred at.

honestly kind of confused why this band gets trashed for being stereotypical millennial trash when people generally like groups like Superorganism
I like both tbf but they both kind of have that huge borderline obnoxious tone
Even Twenty One Pilots doesn't get this kind of hate lmao

Well tbf twenty one Pilots is much more talented and ambitious than these guys, like I'm no Tøp stan but compared to this they're like late 90s Radiohead or some shit

this seems plenty ambitious to me though, the arrangements are very dense

me and a friend used to listen to songs we really liked, followed by a song from this album, and we would keep it going for a bit.

I was unaware twenty one pilots or this band were particularly hated.
Glad I never read reviews before listening to them. Seems like a bunch of over-analysis of pop music + group think. Twenty One Pilots is an extremely talented group, but they are a group with a largely minor fanbase and it makes an easy target for music snobs.
I haven’t heard all of this album yet. And I get that it’s cheesy from what I’ve heard from it, but it’s also very catchy and the lyrics are not particularly bad for pop music.
No way it’s as bad as everyone here is saying. Will rate soon.

Sober Up is a little corny and clumsy but overall a good and relatively meaningful pop song.
Edit: Drama is awful… No Grass is awful… call my dad is horrible
Edit 2: Turning Out is very decent too. Burning Down the House is very good.

Paragraph in the review about weed is extremely cringe. They literally said “enjoy the show” if you smoke weed and that triggered you enough to go into a stoner apologist rant complaining about how they didn’t hit your 10 different talking points in a very short song that’s just about his own choice to abstain.
Then you had to put in the SJW cringe about “people of color” being arrested at a disproportionate rate for drugs when that’s actually bullshit — revealing you are the exact sort of naive “yuppie trying to fit in with the zeitgest” that you complain about AJR fans being lol

You make me miss some really awful users tbh, I'd trade them for you in a heartbeat lol

Final review:
Cheesy album with way too many random synthetic sounds thrown in and way too many filler songs. Fair share of very bad lyrics and poor craft.
But Sober Up, Turning Out, Three-Thirty, and Burn The House down are all decent-good pop music. Lyrics have their moments on these songs especially Burn The House Down. Overall they’re pretty catchy and it’s not hard to understand how they went viral.
Not my particular taste but not objectively horrible.
