The band kind had 3 transitions, all pretty good. Let them eat cake thru It's a love cult they were at their poppiest and in a bit of a rut IMO, Little Lucid moments was a huge shift to a proggier side.

Early on they were more like 90s alt, grunge, stoner and pyschadelic, but still some great albums.

I'd start with Black hole/blank canvas to see where they have been and where they plan to go.

I don't know why I never got into Black Hole/Blank Canvas. I listened to it a few times and there wasn't any spark for me.

Do you like much of their pre- 2000's stuff?

Overrated, probably one of the most complex yet boring albums I have ever came across. I wouldn't call it complete dog shiz, but it's not far from it.

Riiight. I've actually had Torbrowser on my laptop pretty much since I got it but I never use it cos it's slower than Chrome and I'm not trying to buy heroin or anything

I haven't listened that much to their 90s stuff to be honest. Timothy's Monster is great, especially the second disc and Trust Us as well. These are the ones I listened to most. Blissard has some strong tunes too. The rest I have still to truly digest sometimes when I have free time.

Lobotomizer is full on Stoner rock. The EPs that follow that and 8 Songs to soothe are slowly slipping out of that sound and Demon Box is transitioning from that to a more alt/poppy side. So before Demon Box is not really them at all.

I was just wondering cause maybe that's why you don't like BH/BC. It's not my favorite either but just a good spot to start IMO.

It was many years ago when I first started listening to Motorpsycho, I wasn't into this kind of music as I am now. Most likely if I go back through their catalog, I'd have more patience for each LP.

The artwork clearly presents this as a The Tower Part 2 but that short runtime appeals to me so I'll check. Today they lack the young energy and wild weirdness of their golden 90s era, but they are still a trustworthy band for sure, if less unpredictable.

This is growing on me. Each track has its weaker moments though that hold them back from being truly great. As always Sæther's basslines are facemelting, especially on the title track

Lux Aeterna is sweet and the first part of the t/t reminds me of Blissard so there's that too. Will come back.

I just miss the emo-ish(?) emotions of the 90s (just see songs like Sinful Windborne).

Does this band actually have the ability to release bad stuff?
