It's not bad, just very little reason to listen to this over anything else they've done

if the production on this were a lot better then this would've been more enjoyable. Tbh there are a couple of good tracks on here.

Album's boring. True, this is arguably their most ambitious effort to date, but that doesn't mean much when the ambition is literally a few 5 second moments every few songs... and especially not when these moments are offset but how generically the album plods along. I mean, Crack the Sky is literally the most boring song I've ever heard from AA, and that was their single. Shame.

album is as i expected, bottom tier amon amarth but that's still a solid record so whatever. Like the little touch of acoustic guitar they added to that one track though.

Shield Wall, Valkyria, and Ravens Flight is a SOLID stretch of tracks. The only solid stretch here imo

I'm not entirely sure why but this didn't hugely impress me on the first couple of listens. And I am a fan of these dudes so maybe it's a bit of a grower? Did anyone else get the same impression or am I alone here?

Nah same here. Jomsviking wasn’t amazing either, but I still got more enjoyment out of that than this and I’ve really liked anything else I’ve heard from them

It's pretty passable but that's about it. There's really not much here that grabs you at all, unlike some of their old stuff that really made you want to "pillage and throw up the horns", so to say.

Yeah, didn't grab me as much as Sutur Rising or Twilight of the Thunder God. May still wait for a few more listens before rating this one just to be fair, though.

i don't know why you'd wanna waste another few hours on a 3/5 even for the science of it lol, but that's your call.
