i used to think We Cool? had a couple of duds, but now with some retrospect, i feel like the lows of that record (no pun intended) hint at some of the experimentation he would attempt on later releases, specifically on “All Blissed Out” and “Darkness Records.” and tbh, while the closing medley of WORRY. is pretty damn great, i think the one punch two punch of “The Lows” and “Darkness Records” to end it out transcends everything else jeff’s pulled off imo. or at least for now hahah

also sorry to interrupt this Jeff Rosenstock dick-sucking thread but Cosmic Thrill Seekers is fucking incredible, what do you guys think now that it’s been a week?

Currently listening through it. The lyrics (with exceptions) and instrumentation are there, but the vocals can be a real barrier at times.

Liked it by the end of the day, but there's a lot holding it back from ascending to the levels I see people ascribing to it. That's mostly due to the vocal deliveries and a handful of dud tracks, but the passion and creativity are both there for sure.

Fuck it I’m bumping this again lol, this thing has consumed my life and I think every track is perfect
|

this would def be better if the vocals weren't a doof 1/5

Kory’s way around a melody is wild tho, like I get his tone is super abrasive but I honestly think he’s a very gifted vocalist

I feel like somebody needs to mention Breather. Hes trying so hard to write a good pop song.

Yes Slex! Let the 5 flow through you. Yesterday was the first day this week I didn't jam this and that's because it'll be ripe for another listen today. Love the vocals, the concept, the melodies, that incredible summer aesthetic. If this doesn't start to lose its magic in a couple of months this could very well he the punk album of the decade for me.

Explode, Brwather is in the top 3 for me along with the t/t and closer
Also I think you mean he DID write 14 tremendous pop songs

The power pop core of this is really what I'm grabs ahold of me and has me coming back. Also I love the vocals here and feel that they are a large part of what elevates this album.
That said my wife usually loves all of my pop punk and she noped out of this one on the 1st note.

I refuse to listen to this because of the name alone.
I won't stand for it.
