well on first listen this is great, i feel like this is overall more diverse than beneath the skin

but that album had a very grandiose and magic atmosphere and this feels a little more pedestrian? to me in that sense

I get that. I'm not sure which album I prefer. I think BtS is more consistent and this has bigger peaks maybe.

I personally prefer this. I think the second half of BtS is brilliant but the first half missed my mark by a hair.

i love "Under a Dome" a lot, it's probably the thing on here that comes closest to "Backyard" even if that song feels more like a resignation to oblivion. it still hits that special wistful place.

I'm pretty much disappointed with this release.
It feels like the singles are the highlight and the rest are just meh ...
I love the fact they included more electronic stuff in the songs but still most of the songs aren't that interesting . Previous 2 albums were better IMO

I can certainly understand disappointment with this given the change up in style. If this didn't have really strong hooks/melodies, there wouldn't be much holding it up. I just happen to enjoy the heck out of this particular batch of songs.

Rating this over their first is a major bungle in judgement.

I love this album. I created an account here just to rave about it. I can't even describe in words accurately how it resonates with me. Just absolutely extraordinary. To hell with all the mediocre reviews. I am blown away. Thank you, Of Monsters and Men.

I think Sow is trying to take you home, bloc.

This is alright so far, only heard these guys before when they were doing... folk?

Ugh, this got pretty stale on the second half, apart from Soothsayer, which is a jam.

Ok album, they are not the messiah of the genre but a tune here and there when the mood is right.

I can honestly see both sides. I love both their folk sound and this. On one hand Rororo and Sleepwalker are stunning, but on the other hand I can see why they'd be annoying to someone who wants more drums, acoustics, backwoods lore, etc.

Synthy pop sheen is much more appealing to me than folk so sounds like this band is growing in a direction I'd like. And yeah, a few songs in and I'm digging this. Not sure it's anything wildly special but definitely enjoyable.
