Swell was really just Celebrate 2.0 but I feel like this record brought enough change to set it apart from their other stuff.
This Couch and Celebrate are still my favourite 2 but I feel like this could easily take the 3rd spot for me.
edit: For the Sake of Brevity is still one of their best songs.

Well, it's way better than "Swell" at least. Nowhere near to the first three records though.

Yeah, this review sums up my opinions on Swell. I'm enjoying this one a little more.

Can’t wait to jam this again today. There’s something special about it that’s hard to put my finger on given everyone seems to think it’s more of the same

Haven't listened as their singer sexually assaulted someone, and the band tried to get a band with female members to support them to make their tour seem 'diverse' while only paying them £50

didn't care for swell not even gonna bother with this

"and the band tried to get a band with female members to support them to make their tour seem 'diverse' while only paying them £50"
you do realize the actual band members probably had nothing to do with that

This is the exact opposite of what I feel about the album, wow. For them, this feels fresh, new, more aggressive.

"you do realize the actual band members probably had nothing to do with that"
So the band has nothing to do with choosing which bands they take on tour with them? It seems like an obvious 'we need to make our tour seem diverse so people forget that Dylan sexually assaulted someone, so let's book a band based on the gender of their members rather than the quality of their music'.

Great review. I didn't like Swell. To me it sounded like a band doing their absolute best to sound like an emo band.

dude that's pretty much their management team who also reaches out to said bands and offers the damn money
also its pretty bold of you to assume their fans are brainlets idiots if you really think they go through that kind of reasoning, there's still no strong evidence of a sexual assault other than 2 different stories

celebrate was my aoty when that came out, everything since has been.. fine. i wish they'd spend more time on their projects, think they could put out another near-classic

Whoa guys watch out, it's another meandering Trebor soundoff that can't get negged because of his site status.
I'm hiding the wife and kids from this

Yo wtf this kicks ass. Reminds me more of Yellowcard-style pop punk than the twinkly midwest emo I used to associate them with.
After reading the review I thought this was actually going to be mediocre. Not the case

This album is more what I was hoping for after Celebrate. I still love Swell, but it was just Celebrate pt 2. This has just enough flourishes and changes to make it the better album. The final three song stretch is amazing.
