Well said sir. I agree with a lot here. I was hoping the album would grow on me more, but it's more insomnium songs and that's about it.

as my review indicates there are very few riffs

the easiest way for me to give an album a good rating is to give me good riffs, this album does not have many

Only heard a couple of the singles so far but I have the feeling I'll be slapping on the classic 3 for this

I thought I would too, but what I took for more depth was pretty sterile stuff after I kept listening. I like it much more than Wintergate, but this is definitely not pushing the band's style forward. Shadows is prob their best this decade

Interesting. I have a good feeling this will rule.

Still looking forward to hearing this despite really only enjoying Pale Morning Star from the 3 singles they released. Maybe I'll just burn that song 13 times on a CD and call it a day.

This band hasn't been the same since Ville Vanni departed. I'm not sure how much influence he had in the song writing but I'm guessing quite a bit?

He had very few songwriting credits. Ville Friman, however, has a hand in many songs - he is credited for music in probably 95% of tracks this band has written - he seems to be their compositional stalwart. I do strongly prefer Vanni's style to Vanhala's, but despite how I want to pinpoint their change in sound to Vanni's departure I dont think it is that simple.

Well, shit. I feared this would be the case after the initial release, and it seems Crysis has confirmed what I hoped would not be true. Will still give the record a shot when it hits the streets, but my expectations have been tempered at this point.

Pale Morning Star is incredible but it bums me out when I find albums where I really like one song. Hopefully there is something else on here I'll dig as much, cause that song is too good. If they don't close with that song live they are dropping the ball hard.

EDIT: My 6666th comment, the cursed comment.
