"but it's clear that The Great Old Ones are seeking ways in which to take their Lovecraftian inspiration to loftier heights (or more hellish depths), "

Love the first half. It feels different from previous stuff, especially The Omniscient.

Last half tho is pretty eh tho, sadly...

Weird, it's the opposite for me. I find the band really come into their own from the 4th track onwards on this album.

Might have exaggerated a little bit, but the 6th track and 7th track just don't do the rest of the album justice imo. It feels more run-of-the-mill and less experimental.

But Opinions I guess..

"Might have exaggerated a little bit" now we're talking...I also read the review and I enjoyed it, but on first listen, I disagree those 2 final tracks were the best ones. In fact 2,3,4 and 5 were the ones that did it for me...and I guess for the same reasons you've mentioned. Relisten is scheduled for today.

Mind this for me is potentially on top of my fave "straight" BM releases, with BAN and Misthyrming (not considering wacky BM Waste of Space Orchestra, Stellar Master Elite or gazey Numenorean or sludgy Inter Arma).

Anyway...I don't know if its just me but its an amazing year for BM.

Oh that one...right...I've heard about that hype....if its anything like Falls of Rauros I can definitely dig it, just an inch out of my cup of tea tho.

This riffs here are so intense m/m/

holy fuck fuck The Omniscient just blasts my ass right out of the gate. this is sounding like itll be as good as EOD. a lot of bands doing the 3 guitar thing dont justify the extra guitar, but these guys make such good use of all of them, it never feels redundant.

well, the rest of it didnt quite blow me away like the first proper track did, but it was still quite a ride.

"And new Fen is just around the corner!"

Expecting that to be solid, albeit completely unremarkable.
