Ya know I just never got the concept of being sad or upset about old people dying. Seems selfish. What more do you want from these people!? Let em rest ffs! Havent they given us enough!?

Maybe theres something wrong with my brain but it just dont make sense to me

I also dont understand the idea of grieving over people you dont personally know unless it's like some kind of awful tragedy

the loss of a life is still an event where well-meaning sentiments are good to give/receive. who is to really say they lived a 'full' life?

How is feeling sorry for yourself a good sentiment

Pretty sure being an absolute legend is a pretty full life. Doubt she had much acting left in her

Not tryna be provocative or anything I just think about this stuff every time a famous person dies from being old as fuck and people get all sad

I don't think any of us are """"actually"""" grieving or truly affected by her death in any meaningful way, I haven't seen a new film with her in it in over two decades anyway. It's more of a symbolic embellishment, a kind of memorial to acknowledge and honor their lifetime achievements one last time, not meant to legitimately console myself but pay emblematic respects.

Also it's just an excuse to revisit one of the few Godard films I actually enjoy so there's that.

yeah p much what tectactoe said, although i think it's normal to be affected in some way and feel sad when someone responsible for some of your favourite films/music dies regardless of the age and circumstances tbh. Grieving was a bit of an exaggeration.

That's fair, it makes sense to me to celebrate death of icons more than grieve them ya know, definite excuse to reflect on their accomplishments.

she was a phenomenal actress whose work deserves to be remembered i don't think anyone's literally weeping into their French New Wave collection pots

I'm speaking generally dude I think that's clear enough, people act like they just put their dog to sleep when famous people die sometimes

This is also a tragic reminder that there’s no available BluRay of A WOMAN IS A WOMAN, which is a goddamn travesty.
