I would expect an 80s synth pop album tbh.
Album is alright, "Night Swim" is nice, it has a lot of details here and there, which is the usual Soccer Mommy, bland on the surface, juicy on the inside.

Basically, after "Night Swim" this lifts off. 90s pop meets dream pop, meets soft grunge.

Will probably bump my rating down after the first week hype passes, I think Clean is more immediate and intimate but I like the range of textures on here a lot, so they'd equalise.
Plus "up the walls" gives me big "I'm On Fire" Springsteen vibes for whatever reason

re-listened to this album this morning and am even more impressed. three realizations I came to: (1) circle the drain is good (2) night swimming is a tad overhyped but still good (3) yellow is still the best song here and is amazing
