No matter how fantastic Floor's vocals can be she hasn't shown it on a Nightwish recording yet.Human is alright but nothing special. Will spin it a couple times then move on to more interesting pastures.

How does this band still exist?

"They've reached that "We're just so happy to be together, doing what we love" stage in their careers. Which.. is great. I mean, good for them."
That's an interesting way to word it. I've always felt like, as soon as Tarja left, they began drawing their inspiration from the energy given by their fan base and/or more relatable everyday topics. So this somewhere definitely connects with your approach.

Mostly i'm surprised they're still around, like twas said. Apparently there's still quite a few people picking up what they're laying down, but it just isn't for me. They lost a certain X factor after about Dark Passion Play, imo.

They're bigger than they've ever been and they're number 1 on Amazon US and #2 on iTunes here as well.

Nightwish is one of the highest selling Finland artists. Don't know why people are surprised they are still kicking.

Well usually when you’re naming your albums things like “Human. :II: Nature.” you’ve kind of exhausted your creative purpose

There isn't even a Human. I. Nature. That's the part that bothers me most.

I had to listen to Oceanborn again to remember and reassure myself that Nightwish are capable of composing music after listening to this pile of hot garbage.

i enjoyed this more than i thought i would. i almost never listen to disc 2 but it's nice to know it's there when i'm that specific mood. i still hate harvest though, genuinely the worst chorus they've ever written.

i think that's the best way to go into this record tbh. it's by no means a masterpiece but they addressed many of my complaints about previous works. it feels more subtle and dialed back where it needs to be, allowing the music to breathe. i like the fact the long, bloated piece is on a separate disc so you don't feel obligated to listen to it every time you're in the mood to hear the record. the 9 tracks on disc 1 are pretty varied for better or for worse. it's not the best set of tracks they've laid to tape but there's some really great ones - endlessness honestly has some MDB like riffs. it'll take you by surprise.

Yeah, that Harvest chorus is beyond terrible. Sounds like a Brother Bear song.

The overly bloated nature of the songwriting has been an increasing bane on Nightwish since Imaginaerum, and it reaches new peaks here. Despite how much they're trying to make everything sound epic, it all comes out suffocating, exhausting. Another waste of Floor Jansen's massive talent.

I listened to the album a couple of times (CD 1) and I loved it. It's a Eurovision-esque folk vibe, but I was expecting that.
