Most of this cranks, but the singing is kind of corny for this band

I thought the singing gave it some good flavor. "Begin Again" was my favorite jam.

Also, if anyone was wondering, my Hot Pocket sucks, and this album is better than a Hot Pocket.

Call me a shithead for saying all of this, but I cannot get over how heavy handed the lyrics are. We get it, you were in a horrible accident that changed your lives. How many songs can you write about “rising above the ashes” or whatever other cliche metaphor you wanna use? Also, the music is pretty by-the-numbers metalcore.

my rating scale is about .5 to 1 point higher than everyone else's, so just pretend i rated it a 3

"We get it, you were in a horrible accident that changed your lives."

I would say this sentence alone is a good justification for the album's lyrics, wouldn't you?

^ Preach. Kinda laughable to say "we know you were in an accident, maybe talk about something else now"

actually, it's pretty common for an album to have a central theme from which they don't stray

Having a themed album is fine, but idk anybody who likes one where it beats you over the head about it for 40 minutes.

I know.

This isn’t even about disliking the band or anything either. They were my favorite band at one point (before Dear Youth came out). I just think this is getting overblown with undeserved hype.

Yeah Massam if you're not resonating with the idea here, it's okay lmao. But trying to play it off like your non-enjoyment is because it's objectively bad and no one has a right to dig it is pretty cringy.

I got a few friends in real life that think this brand of metalcore is generic and boring. I forgive them for it too ;)

I’m not saying it’s objectively bad. I just said I think It’s bad because the lyrics are heavy handed and the music is average. I’m not talking down on anybody that likes it lmao.

Also - I’ve had a Sputnik account since I was like 14. Of course there are gonna be some cringe 5 ratings on there. Don’t care enough to go back and change all my scores.

Never cared for these guys, but I respect the hell out of them for what they’ve been through. Then being able to rehab and get back to making music again.

Yeah man. I for one am super happy these guys were able to put out a new album despite everything they've been through. It's honestly the most inspiring story I can think of.
