it truly is a scary time for the world when we have exhausted our adjective cache to the point of using milksteak to describe an album

"halloween is one of the best here. slow =/= bad" -- Definitely, slow Phoebe is best Phoebe; production feels like it's trying to bring to life an otherwise boring song though. Best balance of subtle songwriting and subtle production flourishes is the t/t I reckon. That and, hm, maybe Savior Complex.

What do you guys like about Chinese Satellite? Very much not a fan of the way it ends. Wish the build up was longer, would make the jarring end feel a bit more satisfying.

I don't like the way it ends either. But the rest of it has an energy that so many songs here lack

Listening to this has me convinced Forever Half Mast by Lucy Dacus is the best song to come out of the Boygenius crew over the past couple years. This teen diary confessional tone has never done much for me.

On repeated listens, yup yup this is definitely a step up from Strangers. The first half of Strangers definitely had more of an emotional punch, but the back half always loses me. I truly don't give a shit about the Mark cover. This one is very consistent.

Great review, I've tried and tried with Bridgers but her songs just leave me kind of cold. Great production and voice but yeah. Think I like this more than Stranger in the Alps tho.

I Know the End is a 6/5 song and Graceland Too is a 5/5 and the rest varies from 3-4/5 territory. Idk where this will end up, but it’s got some stunning efforts

Not that there's any need to mess with the track ordering, but I like how it flows this way:

1. Kyoto

2. Punisher

3. ICU

4. Chinese Satellite

5. Halloween

6. Savior Complex

7. Graceland Too

8. Garden Song

9. Moon Song

10. DVD Menu

11. I Know The End

Anyway, this is predictably growing on me.
