I think I'm enjoying and its peaking my curiosity on checking some other albums from them.

It’s definitely hitting now, at least in a 3.5 sense haha. I’m all for the compositional simplicity and repetition, that’s always been an inherent part of their sound, and everything’s starting to gel nicely now. Definitely doesn’t have the cathartic intensity of their earlier stuff, but I really shouldn’t be expecting that at this point. Plenty of potential in the quieter, more brooding approach. The singing definitely has a handful of...overconfident moments, I do agree

i think i'd enjoy this in a more meditative way if i could stand his vocal approach but yeah, no. to be frank he just sounds terrible to me.

Vocals sure sound pretty raw and dry, which combined with his singing style makes them hard to get into. But idk, I kinda like them.

great band their last album was amazing, i like the guys in the band, too, if you know their story they almost fell apart from substance abuse, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. I root for people like this

noctus have you heard their more famous songs, like Fjara, etc. ? you may prefer those vocals

Otta is my favorite of theirs but realistically they’ve never done anything less than great. Can’t wait for my vinyl to come in the mail.

Agreed with Noctus on everything bar the vox, they are fine. Otta is the last thing I liked by these guys and it looks like this won't change with this album.

Never really cared for Solstafir and after listening to the two singles, I don't think this will change with this album.

Definitely check out Masterpiece of Bitterness and Kold. Kold especially, it’s so sprawling and beautiful and immense, one of my favorite albums of the 2000s. Given your musical preferences, I would definitely try that one first. The title track and “Goddess of the Ages” are still my two fave songs from the band.

What’s your production qualms? I don’t really have any aside from vocals being a little too in your face at times
