I dunno, I got it in about one click and then hoped it would get better. But it's just a bunch of mid tempo, formulaic alt-rock.

I feel I have to counter all the borderline negative comments here. I've been a modest fan of Soen since Lykaia. While staying within their comfort zone, Soen continue to deliver quality albums with hardly any filler. I can't deny, it can come of as a bit formulaic but give this album a few spins and it def sticks. I would be very interested to hear what would happen if these guys tried to make a bit more ambitious album, and tread outside their comfortzone a bit more.

it was the opposite for me - it hit initially but then it felt really stale and formulaic the more i listened. they focussed more on the elements i disliked from the last album rather than the ones i liked and all the subtlety in their writing is gone in favour of really bland riffs that don't hit at all.

Having loved Katatonia, you get to accept that some bands' material might sound too samey. I get what you mean, but Soen are some of the bands that I adore despite them having so much of the same dynamics and riffs.
Also, it's a recurring joke with my friends that all their albums have at least a word talking about someone who goes against things (rival/dissident/opponent/antagonist)

Dunno, I'm as big fan of Soen as you can get, but even after 30+ listens it still doesn't click... Unlike any of their previous albums which did on the first listen.
