There are different variations of blasts. Traditional is just alternating snare and kick while matching the kick with a cymbal or tom. Hammer blast is simultaneous hits of snare, kick, and cymbal in quick succession. X has a reverse blast iirc

Bomb blast is same as hammer blast but doubling up on kick i believe. I think I have all the terminology correct. I play all the variations on drums but I could've forgotten the proper names over time lol

I can kind of see the rational behind Moonchild's claim here (though X definitely also exists). With blasts being as prevalent and extreme as ever these days, ones as simple as BYOB or Chop Suey can kinda not seem like a blast beat in comparison to like, Blake Richardson/Alex Rudinger type that's kinda become the standard in metal post-SOAD.

the chaotic brevity of those blasts speaks more to their hardcore influences, which is why they're so different than those in normal metal rhythms.

Traditional blasts are still incredibly common in metal even if guys are bomb blasting at 290 bpm with triplets on the ride or whatever. His claim is that the new song has their first and only blast beat section and it's just a straight up traditional blast at like 190 bpm which is found in several other songs of theirs

Yeah Protect the Land definitely has a nationalist edge that means I can't get into it. Genocidal Humanoidz is a bit more vague as it can refer to other genocides and persecution.

Also Gene Hoglan has his own blastbeat.

lol yeah, I certainly didn't expect any nationalist propaganda from an album called Protect the Land

And that's correct DatsNotDaMetulz, he's got the blast triplets

their other albums seemed generally anti-war, anti-corporate america, "armenian genocide bad" tho whereas this specifically is pro-armenian.

also diarrhea/cyclone blast is best blast.
