The sheer variety of the riffs on Obscura is staggering, I don’t find it homogenous to the extent it could be considered detrimental. Yeah it’s pulling from similar places, but it doesn’t feel repetitive to me.

goddamn this album sounds good. can we get colin marston a medal yet? still on the first track but the riffs are cool and the drum grooves are really pulling me in. have a feeling i'll be throwing these guys some cash on bandcamp in the coming days.

Colin Marston is to metal what Steven Wilson is to rock. The banners and saviours of good production works

this is my favorite of the three mentioned but it just depends on what you like, they’re all solid releases.

I think the comparison(s) have come about because of the release dates. I mean they all tekk deaf, but yes quite different. I’m just not necessarily dismissive of noodles if they’re delicious. This has a great flava but it don’t noodle the same and that’s fine, great disso-death in the Ulcerate mold.

Archspire rubs me up the wrong way honestly.

Ye new FF is tight it’s just really daunting as a complete listen, I can only do a couple of tracks at a time

and me too, archspire is just not for me and I’m not going to try anymore lol

FF is admittedly a lot to take in at once, but it’s worth persevering with and also bizarrely quite digestible. I haven’t listened to it in full every time though, simply due to time constraints.

It’s indeed good I just get burnt out if I listen to more than three tracks at a time idk same feeling was felt with Daesin but this album more so because it’s longer heh

I might maybe review the new one if no one gets to it after this weekend maybe
