This definitely rules but nowhere near Empty Black for me, Blemish and Echo and Dust Pt. 1 wash this whole album

I prefer Empty Black, but I also didn't expect it to surpass it. That is a top 5 all-time record for me. This is still one of my favorite records of recent years, and is better than most bands best efforts.

4 songs in and I’ve already decided that these guys are the best Metalcore band currently touring and releasing albums
I don’t know if their songwriting abilities or something else, but I can’t think of another band that is consistently making songs/albums that are this thoroughly engaging from beginning to end. God I hope they blow up with this album

"The people who loved Radical and miss ETID are gonna have a field day with this."
I'd say this band is the closest sounding to the core' side of DEP.

First full play thru thoughts- I think this better than Empty Black. I was a little nervous that this wouldn’t live up to Empty Black because I couldn’t think of a direction they could go that would improve their sound.
To my surprise they’ve managed to expand/improve just about every facet of the band and it’s individual members.
-Vocals: Phenomenal. A masterclass
-Guitar: fucking electric (i’m a guitarist and this is where my attention goes on first listens. I was blown away at the constant complex/engaging/beautiful playing throughout the album)
Bass and drums: not typically the parts of a bands sound that I pickup. I need relistens to get a fully formed opinion on both. What I did pick up on first listen; both were great and complimentary throughout the album
Conclusion: when looking at music thru a metal/Metalcore/whatevercore lens, these guys are the setting a new standard. Everything works, all members work incredibly well together, and they have some of the best/catchiest writing one could hope for
People will undoubtedly compare these guys to ETID, and that’s great company to be in. That said, I think this is far more engaging than Radical, and I know this will get far more relistens from me than Radical. ETID are the goats and have a catalogue that might never be matched, BUT these guys can now stand on their own and not in the shadow of greats like ETID
