"I can't fathom listening to that version of The Feel Good Drag when the NTFP one exists"
Idk most days I prefer it. Sounds cleaner and that scream has always been lol to me

Interesting. Maybe it's just because I listen to way too much melodic streamlined stuff, but I always prefer when an artist decides to lean into aggression for a change. Plus I think the scream is pretty fitting in the bridge as a culmination of all the frustration built up over the ex that the song is supposedly about.

Listening to both back to back now, I'm finding I don't really have a preference one way or the other. My bias might have been towards the redo as that was the version we practiced when I was in a band many moons ago.

"but I think Gods, Drugs and Sex is a great closer, and probably better than Miserabile Visu"
it's leaps and bounds better, Miserabile Visu feels so forced to me. Doesn't have the dynamism of Fin. But really the second-best Anberlin closer is Dance, Dance Christa Paffgen

God Drugs and Sex really grew on me over time, but Miserabile Visu and Fin are still the standard bearers. Never thought MV felt forced and as someone who grew up constantly hearing about the book of Revelation and how the world is going to end, I find the lyrics riveting.

mv is one of their weaker closers tbh. not enough love for depraved and harbinger in the thread

Nothing Lost is awesome.
Two Graves sounds like Dead Letter Circus.

[3] to that, one of my favourite choruses ever. NTFP - NS was their peak. I think the biggest reason this doesn't click with me is that aside from some of Vital I've never felt sentimental about their later era.

Can’t believe Body Language seems to be a miss for people. Lovely song, it really blooms and is quite lush instrumentally. I never expected their reunion to be this good. They were always on the edge of letting the cheese get the better of them, and I was sure a reunion would be a catalyst for that.

I think Body Language is good but it's not on the same level as the rest of the EP. I feel like it's begging for an instrumental flourish that never arrives, and just stays focused on its beat and melody. It's still a solid 3/3.5 out of 5 track though.

This is one solid as hell EP. Best EP I’ve listened to in a long while.

I am firmly in the NTFP over NS regarding the Feel Good Drag debate. The subtle changes in the drum parts make the song worse to me and that bridge loses all its impact. It had no good reason for existing. I remember ranting about this in my review many years ago. Good times.
As far as this EP goes this is much better than most things on Lowborn. Lowborn left such a bitter taste in my mouth as the band's last release. It's a shame cause it starts so goddamn strong.

I know I'm in the minority of loving Lowborn, but that one really grew on me as a sort of perfect "fading off into the ether" album, and I think it works great as a swansong/goodbye. Digging this EP after a couple listens. Will have to see how it holds up to time.

Also, that's a pretty big nod to "Enjoy the Silence" in the "Body Language" bridge, as well as to Joy Division in the outro lyrics. This song is most definitely a tribute to the bands 80's/early 90's influences.
