when the fuck did everyone start hatin on the old trivium? they were three 17-year old kids here... i think this is a really good effort for their first real release....
so the singing isnt good.... so? go buy an american idol CD or sumthin if ur gona kick and scream about good/bad singing

I love TRIVIUM!!!

Every Trivium album has someone saying that it's their only good album. This blows, Ascendancy is okay, Crusade is so-so at best, bloody awful at worst, and Shogun is slightly better than Ascendancy IMO. Haven't listened to any of them at all in a long time though.

OK ALBUM FOR A FIRST ONE!!!

I am a huge Trivium fan, but this album sounds a little artificial. Especially the vocals in Ember to Inferno, Matt Heafy's effort to do an ultra melodic clean chorus vocal part fails, it made me feel like i was in some nintendo 64 game, it just gave me that nostalgic feeling... But hey this was their debut album, but i do have to praise Travis's drumming, it was solid and sharp, the bass by Brent Young was spot on too. Guitars need some work, perhaps Heafy was the only guitarist that time and its' quite difficult to sing and play lead at the same time, thank god Trivium has Corey now, but they have really improved. 3/5
