This blew me away. I was hesitant to even listen to it but am sure glad I did. The whole thing is pretty great, but the last 4 songs are amazing.

Glad everyone is enjoying this but I'm still thinking it's pretty average stuff

yeah, I think Foo Fighters are a 'guilty pleasure' band people listen to who hope they release something that's a bit more acceptable generally....so are gagging to leap onto a new release without being somewhat laughed at for it. The 'New Weezer Album Effect'?

But this is:

1. still generally very basic.

2. still sounds near enough like most other Foo material.

3. deep down still has the longevity of a fart in a breeze.

Its not bad though, 'Wasting light' prob a bit more fun tbh.

because they have 3 guitars and all of them are fuzzy wuzzy

it isn't bad if you aren't singling it out, comes together well enough i think

In a week where I definitely wasn’t expecting to enjoy a new album by A7X and Foo Fighters I’ve been more drawn to this album overall

Doof, have you considered that many of the positive comments are on account of people just enjoying the album? I expected nothing going in to this, as I haven’t enjoyed any of their recent albums. If people were just ‘gagging’ to jump on to a new release, then they would have also been desperately defending the last few albums upon release, too. You’re working backwards from your own feelings about the album.

damn they dropped this a lot sooner then I thought they would. This band has been bang average for years now. Nothings changed.

It's pretty good, a standard Foos record but The Teacher and emotional backdrop of Grohl losing both his mother and Hawkins as suddenly as he did gives it some added gravitas imo. A sad as it is that Hawkins passed, it's very heartwarming hearing Grohl playing the drums again on a FF record and killing it like only he does.
