This one is better than Silverline. And I loved Silverline. An album out of these two ep's would be an easy 4.5 to me.

Don't know if I'm gonna give my two cents on a full review but anyway. Great review as always sowing!

Silverline just feels more like Anberlin to me. Maybe it was just more immediate. I've only listened to this twice through so that might be the case.

It makes sense that that one feels more like Anberlin because this one is pretty experimental. I agree that Silverline edges this but for me it's mostly just because of how amazing Two Graves is. Even though Animals rules, nothing here is in the same tier as Two Graves, which I would rank in my top 5 Anberlin songs and is a clear difference maker.

I've grown to love even the "filler" on that EP too. Thought I'd only ever go back for Two Graves and Circles, but Body Language is probably one of my top songs. Another unexpected one that grew heavily is Stranger Ways.

Does this have less of that "oh we're talking about praising christ" energy than their other works?

Yea, I never really thought that about them. Sure they had some faith based lyrics but I never took them as an overly religious type or actual christian band

I prefer Convinced to Silverline, myself. But right now I'm just trying to figure out why "Bansheee" has three E's in it.

Lacerate ended up being my favorite but cuz it grew on me. chorus is awesome.
This was good! I def preferred Silverline but I'm just glad they are 2 for 2 on the come back. Decoder felt pretty Vital/Devotion and Animal went hard. Nothing More also felt like classic Anberlin, good vibes throughout but I think it probs missed the mark, wish there was something after the (still dope) sax solo.

Agreed that they could have done more after the sax. Pretty anticlimactic to have it just fade to waves/water. I get what they were going for thematically, but musically it's pretty uninteresting. Good song otherwise.

Great stuff as usual from these guys. So far, I prefer this over Silverline. These two EPs would have made a solid LP if released together.

Banshee is a guilty pleasure lol, reminds me of Bad Boys Blue.

Maybe they'll release them on CD, vinyl prices are strong these days.

This is solid, I really do like the vibe going here. This and Silverline make for a great comeback and in my opinion, stronger than Lowborn would have lead me to believe. Hyped for even more in the future.

Not quite as good as Silverline but still very good. Nothing More hits hard!

I wish that sax solo meandered until the end of the song

this band has been my go to for a while now ever since Thrice went to shit, outstanding that they are still pumping out quality stuff after these many years.

why do both these EPs start off with such massive heaters and then the rest resolutely refuses to bang as hard

"My blended Silverline / Convinced LP tracklist for those who enjoy a "full album experience" and want to pretend that this is one, lol"

I love listening to these made up full lengths. I will check later today.

Edit: Hooo boy. That playlist is fire.

I even made an album cover for the unofficial anberlin album: https://i.postimg.cc/nZWmhjzw/silverline-convinced.png

@Rowan: I noticed that the EPs are similarly structured in a lot of ways. Absolute heaters to start, like you said, most medium-paced song second, softest in the middle, most experimental to close. The biggest difference is Animals, which I'd argue brings the heat even more than Lacerate.

@bananatossing: I love that cover. I might use it for my imaginary LP, lol.
