Great review! I saw them in Glasgow last night, they put on a class performance. Crazy that Rob Halford sounds nearly as good in his 70s as he did in his 30s

Review reads as a tad rushed, as overeager to land in the hype window as opposed to taking the time to bring a unique angle to the discussion (it is a different spin to the user rev, but not far off the same beats and points, and built with the same informal prose and woolly phrasing - “Now, let’s take a look at that runtime for a second”, “Ok ok … let’s back up for a second” etc - which id bet a good proof/edit may have thinned out).
Not seeking to be a negative nelly - I’ve not heard the album, and maybe all it needed was a hype piece - but just some cc for thought if you’re taking some.

ye this review does sound like an overly eager fan trying to convince you that this is going to be your favorite album this year.
Album title is cheesy almost to a Manowar level

@Asleep: thanks, I do appreciate the feedback. Fwiw, the review was a bit last-minute since the dib was originally supposed to go to someone else. In any case, I’ll take more time with the next one (and truthfully, I’m more proud of the Norah Jones review I did before this)
With that said, my rating and overall thoughts on the album are still genuine :]

All good my guy, and for sure for sure, I’m not suggesting for a second that the write up doesn’t come across as genuine, just that it wouldn’t have hurt to polish up a couple of those paras. All love and riffs x

Gonna have to check this - haven't kept up with Judas Priest given I'm only a casual fan of their classics, but the fact that this is getting such high praise even at this stage of their career is intriguing.

just having "this stage of their career" is obviously unprecedented. Priest first jammed closer in time to the Titanic sinking than to the present (or will have within a few months).

That opening riff alone in Panic Attack sounds like it was ripped straight from the band’s best 80s and 90s works. How does a band this old sound so fresh and young still? Like I’m genuinely shocked, I was expecting this to be anything but this good
|
| |
Also, does anyone else hear a bit of Tom Sawyer in Panic Attack?

lol one review said Geddy Lee should get songwriting credit for that

Yeah, that song is like if you crossed Tom Sawyer with the t/t of Painkiller

Lol, I don't hear Tom Sawyer at all

It's mostly because of that descending 7/4 motif that appears periodically, most notably the intro before the main riff starts

Not as great as Firepower, certainly still worth a listen or two
