Their previous stuff is a harder listen cause the production is a poser filter but don’t stop trying bros

Listened to this again today. Still the current AOTY and still one of the best BDM albums ever. Defeated Sanity finally gets competition

i mean they're both BDM, but yeah, i have to agree, the comparisons to DS make little sense to me. this is just much more simple-minded and doesn't really come close to the complexity and totally insane musicianship of DS.

that being said, i've spun this a whole lot and it's probably their best album. the production is so damn tasty without betraying their roots. the drumming is another highlight. and "diabolical edict" is imo the best track they've ever done.

Fairly obvious they aren't stylistic comparisons. Defeated Sanity are basically considered the gold standard of modern BDM on this site and this is up there.

Only on this site?

I wish to express mild surprise at that

And yeah they’re nothing alike really, otherwise I’d enjoy this. Unfortunately BDM in this guise does little for me, in fact before I discovered DS I wasn’t sure it was for me. Perhaps I just need a different take on it (okay I guess Suffo / Crypto also count)

Demon how on earth is this a 2? It better be a trolling score man...

Idk it’s like ‘one note’ to the absolute extreme. I know homogeneity can be a positive in some contexts, but honestly this takes it too far

Essentially it does one thing and if you don’t like it, then you’re bound to tire quickly. It’s reliant on your appreciation of the production and general pummelling sound, which I find monotonous tbh. This is exactly why I’d dismissed BDM for so long

Damn demon... R.I.P. Brodequin.

That's a good strategy Hyp, pointing to a band that actually does what Demon said Brodequin does. Wise.

I like this album, cause its heavy and thick blade but also agree with demon. Would never see it as a 5, or a 4.5 even. It s a 5 on the one think he does though.

the Artery Eruption I heard was kind of okay

Effluence are pretty cool and I like (don’t love) Deeds of Flesh debut EP, mostly because of the percussion.

I mean I get it. This is infinitely more accessible than DS.
