when they say "garbage like this" they mean zoomer stuff in general, so putting e.g. vylet pony and bladee in the same basket. i think?
|
| |
yes stupid meme albums with stupid meme covers that blend genres that shouldn't go together (usually for good reason) or where every song is some half-baked idea because they're already working on another three albums at once. i guess if you'd consider that zoomer music, but there's plenty of "zoomer" bands that i love so i think that's a misnomer for sure
literally half of the top 10 for 2024 is this?

Hyperpop ruined blade for me, why does he gotta get lumped together with 100gecs

none of these things are true for this album
theres plenty of random garbage that 16 year olds on rym like now but lumping in an established artist doing one style very well with all that stuff seems weird

This absolutely falls into that bucket. I should know I made the bucket.

Yeah I don't get the hype for this guy

probably a copypasta later down the road but there's definitely a lot of good and bad with the rym charts. the good is that there's more of an experimental tinge on their charts than ours (whether or not you consider jpegmafia or BCNR to be good artists) but the bad is that there's so much bite-off-more-than-you-can-chew zoomer garbage that throws everything at the wall and rushes everything out the door without any secondary consideration into a great value version of the atmo-rawk they're trying to emulate (see: every longinus-cosigned artist on bandcamp). if not that it's the aforementioned half-baked poptimists that desperately try to air out a celebration/revival for their constantly dunked-on niche (see: vylet pony).
for as long as it took me to warm up to bladee's sound he's not someone that i would group in with either one of those, he's an established artist whose sound (while overshadowed by his mainstream contemps here in the states) has resonating impact across the musicphile zeitgeist

Why does everything have to be so serious? Album is fun and has great beats. Why do we have to make it anymore than that?
|

BECAUSE MUSIC ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FUN

I think it might be the best / most functional "album" he's ((t)he(y)?) released, aside from Working on Dying, just because the strengths and success of the hit-rate is ridiculously good - but unlike his other albums there are no obvious standouts or songs I can replay to death. Which isn't, like, necessarily a bad thing, it just means the precise focus and ideal listen is to the album in its entirety. With 30 songs that is asking a lot - but by God does it remunerate in full.
Amzing albm, is what I'm trying to say, even if none of the tracks here would be in my top 10

I dont understand the big hate sputnik has for aforementionned RYM artists like this one or let say BCNR . Complaining it is music for zoomers when a lot of you here are litteral boomer music-wise (I include myself in that description)
Im not that high on bladee but all of you make it like this is drake level of bad. Hell Im generally a hater of trap influenced beats but this is fine for the most part.
Still not an amazing album, but serviceable

he either needs to bring the obscene autotune back or just go full pop-rap and do another collab with Mechatok. Good Luck and 'All I Want' are both so good. that type of sound seems to suit him better at this point in his career. felt like a logical progression after the Working on Dying era
