Agalloch isn't one of those bands you can get into right away. You have to let them sink in and suddenly it hits you that it's musical genious. This is probably the easiest album to start with, and IMO the best they've made so far.

Actually I pretty much got into Agalloch right away, they kinda rule my life right now.

Well, I guess it depends on what music you're already into before you pick up Agalloch.

I was listening to this on a long drive through the woods at night time and it instantly struck me as amazing.

i may get this album tomorrow. If not, i'll get haven by dark tranquillity.

I'd rather get this because it seems better, but i'd get it off itunes, and that means i can't get "fire above ice below" because its over 10 minutes and fucking ituens doesnt let you buy songs that long. So i'd only get the other 7 songs, therefore wasting money to get the one song if i happen to fin the album at F.Y.E.

Maybe i should play it safe and get haven, or at lewast just get a few songs off this album.

Whatr would you guys say are the best songs on this album? Other than FIre Above Ice Below. I don't own any agallch yet so it would be my first from them.

Limb is probably the best, that, or Not Unlike The Waves.

I listened to this the other night, just before I went to sleep.

Utterly fantastic, probably some of the best atmospheric, progressive music I will ever hear.

The album is impossibly close to being a classic - but it doesn't have the magical quality that The Mantle possessed IMO.

I've only lsitened to it a few times, but i've been a biut dissapointed so far. However, i am expecting it to grow on me, which is why i have the rating at a 4 instead of a 3-3.5.

Listened to it again.....this is some epic shit.

Falling Snow is easily my favorite on the album....love the guitar work, and the clean vocals are so goddamn...heavenly sounding....

I'd say not unlike the waves is next, then limbs. Our Fortressis Burning pt 2 is rpetty cool, and pt 1 is nice....but pt 3 is inda like 7 and a half minutes of wtf? This white mountain.... is a nice, creepy instrumental as well.

I got the album off itunes so i couldnt get fire aove, ice below.

Great album.

I can't decide if i like Limbs or Falling Snow the most now, and surprsingly, i actually sat through Our Fortress is Burning PArt three without skipping it or drifting off....i actually found it interesting.

i just got fire above ice below today off itunes due to the new nifty "complete this album" thingy.

jesus, that definately is the best song on the album *_* I was also able to get "in the groves of death" by insomnium. Ironically enough, that's now my favorite insomnium song....go figure =p

I also got 6 new albums, pale folklore and the mantle by agalloch (listening to the mantle now) deadwing and fear of a black planet by Porcupine Tree, ORchid by Opeth (finally got it, i now have all of their cds) and avenger by amon amarth. I will get Systematic choas by Dream Theater when it comes out in two days, though i think i'm gonna buy it in a store instead of download it, just cause i tangibly own all of the other DT albums (save WDADU) so i'd rather actually have it.

btw, i got 365 dollars cause of my confirmation today =D I'm gonna use it to get more music, buy guitar hero II, and to fix my ipod (only one side of it works, so only one headphone works, no matter which pair i use, so it's pretty annoying)

I have a generous family  I also got a cross, a wooden box to hold...stuff in (lol) a st. Joseph card, and a St. Florian chain. I think that's it.

Confirmation is the fourth sacrament in the life of a catholic chirstian. At 13 or 14 years old, we are basically brought closer to the church, and become fully fledged members of it. It's almost like a bar-mitzah in that we are considered adults in the church now.
