I've jammed through Pornography so far and this is easily my favorite Cure right now.

The Funeral Party and the last 2 songs are really good

not quite good as Pornography though

The drowning man is in the top ten songs by them for me.

"despite the super hollow production at least"

It might sound like a cop out but I think the production definitely helps this album sound so dry and empty

I always enjoyed this and 17 Seconds more than Disintegration and Pornography. Though I guess there's not much point in arguing degrees of awesome.

Their 80s albums were pretty flawless sans The Top.

Charlotte sometimes got me into the band actually. It was like that nice blend of the hollow faith sound with the crushing bleakness of pornography

"It might sound like a cop out but I think the production definitely helps this album sound so dry and empty"

it's not a cop out, some people just grossly underestimate the impact of production and mixing on music and think that if it doesnt all sound a certain way then surely it must be a mistake and not a conscious decision

not that im implying all production is perfect and deliberate, or that ppl dont sometimes record on subpar equipment but cmon

The production rulez.

Doesnt matter whether something is intended or not though, it can still be good or bad depending on who you are.

"Doesnt matter whether something is intended or not though"

i mean it matters to the extent that it enhances or hinders the music

u fucker listen to black metal if some poser ass bitch comes to u and says "waaah this production sucks" he's ju8ts fucking wrong, the production makes that particular music sound better and it would sound worse if it were clean right?

but yea this album is fantastic

No idea what youre trying to say. Some death metal bands use clicky kick drums. Doesnt matter whether they meant it to be clicky or not, i still hate typewriter drums.

@park I don't feel bad about it, just like the odd one out. But only because everyone else is WRONG.

I love the hollowed out production on this, it fits the music perfectly.

yeah, because clicky drums are bad in death metal. they could be good in other kinds of music though i cant remember off the top of my head if i know any such example for this particular case

Two pale figures
Ache in silence
Timeless
In the quiet ground
Side by side
In age and sadness
