Robin, this album is all clean/acoustic guitars. It's very melodic and very dark. It's trhe softest album Opeth has done and is the counterpart to their brutal album Deliverance.

And for that, I love it.

Your review is far superior to mine. *bows down*

Read my newest journal. I'm going to make sure my Blackwater Park review is the best thing I've ever done.

And thanks a lot, I really appreciate compliments like that. This Message Edited On 09.27.06

Yeah, blow that one out of the park. You have to do the best metal album of all time justice.

That's right, I said it. The best metal album of all time.

Genius review...

This band never really did anything for me though, besides 'Bleak', I never really cared for anything else...
Sorry folks...

Yes, you MUST!

One can never have too much Opeth. Damnation is absolutely essential.

And I love whoever featured my review! :D

Very good review. I love how you linked your own emotions to the review.. I think you should only give high grades to albums which affect you, and this is a perfect example!

Thank you very much. I try to use my own personal feelings to help convey why I love the music so much, and I think because of that, this is one of my best reviews ever.

Your summary is a bit flawed because this is very clearly NOT a metal album.

Well, Opeth is a metal band. But you're right, I'll change that.

I must agree with wikuk just because there are no distorted guitars doesn't mean its not metal

This album isn't metal, more like depressive progressive rock. I misworded the summary. I meant to infer that it was an album by a metal band, but not necessarily a metal album itself.

Can't argue with logic. Damnation is like intercourse for the ears.

Hope Leaves is the opus of the sadness that dwell in the darkest depths of the mind. The emotion that is found in here is sad, and doesn't rely on having hope to bring back what was lost. It's the ultimate "lost forever" song.

Therefore I think it's the best song on the album.

Yeah, Hope Leaves rules, although I think Windowpane is the best song on the album, followed by Hope Leaves and To Rid the Disease.
