I loved Ascendancy. That should make me biased to like this album, but I can't. I can't stand the thing. Base your feelings for an album on how good it is, not your feelings of obligation to the band(FarFromElysium). Trivium can do better than this...

OK, I couldn't help it, so I broke down and bought this. Bad move. However, after a few listens, it's not the James Hetfield-esque vocal style that bothers me. It's the vocal melodies. I mean, just listen to Detonation, where Heafy sings,
"those who survive will suffocate/by the poisons we create"

These guys have potential, but squander it again. But this is their best record in my opinion, because the riffs aren't quite as dull, Matt Heafy doesn't suck QUITE as much as he did on albums 1 and 2, but this is complete plagiarism.

i agree a lot with this review trivium lost me as a good fan with this, i do like the first 2 songs tho as well, ignition and detination. i also liked to the rats but thts as far as it went... i HATED the anthem, no metal band, or really no band EVER should do an anthem, make a song called anthem or anything of the likes.
trivium are now a band i used 2 love, but now just a band i dont dislike, if u noe wat i mean.
