"WTF happened to this band? This album and a few after this were pure gold! How does a band get so bad?"
It's called making Benjamins.

Whatever happens I still love them cause they made my favourite melodic dm album, Whoracle

I will always love them for their early works, and I actually still appreciate the new stuff to a point.

this band was never that good in the first place.[2]

Great album. Can't really decide between this, Whoracle and Clayman as the best IF albums.
Still, I prefer Dark Tranquillity, who kept getting better and better, while IF keep getting worse - their latest albums are uninspired and boring.

Dark Tranquility are way better than IF but this album and some other IF are truly great.

Yeah it is.
The intro to Moonshield is still amazing to me when I hear it

Gotta disagree with the DT thing, early IF was the best Gothenburg to me. Most concise, most melodic.

Moonshield was one of the best moments this band had. Pity they couldn't capture that kind of atmosphere enough later on.
