Review Summary: i wish i was somewhere else
It's 12:38 AM on Saturday night and there are no more pages to refresh. The effects are starting to wear off and the images on the screen are little more than clusters of pixels. There is no real need for sleep because there's nothing to wake up to and the sounds pulsing from the magnetic discs in your head are far more real than the room you've sat in countless nights, alone. Perhaps there is solace inbetween the sheets where the mind forgets where it is and searches for where it wants to be. But those places will fade and all that's left is the light of morning and another day lost in experience.
Zones Without People is just that. Landscapes that no one else can inhabit and are probably better if left that way. Dreams give birth to the desires of the mind, places where the physical body cannot inhabit. There is always hope in dreams but perhaps the milk wouldn't be so sweet were you to ever taste it. It might be a trivial pursuit to explain how flurries of arpeggiated sawtooth and sine waves reverberating against one another can inspire the mind to create such worlds but the attempt is a means to an end. Virtual memories, perhaps, invoked by a strange connection to things that seem distant. Sound has the peculiar ability to force memories to the surface clearer than when they were first stored, not necessarily accurate but perhaps better colored through a filter of time.
Sometimes we must be guided to remember.
