There are many atmospheric sludge albums that are mistakenly labelled post-metal. This album is a post-metal masterpiece. Dirge embraces the post-rock aesthetic and they slowly yet progressively build enormous atmosphere. The drumming is slow and measured, and the riffs are devastatingly heavy. The vocals are used sparsely but with powerful effect. Highly recommended to those with the patience to sit through lengthy tracks. You will be rewarded.
