Appalling Spawn, the band that would later add drummer Tomas Corn and change their name to Lykathea Aflame, seems to have been severely overlooked on this site.
The music seen on this album is not very unlike what these lads would go on to produce on Elvenefris, and I mean this in a good way--that it is similarly kickass. The combination of inhuman grind vocals, beautiful melodic passages, crazed drumming; it's all here.
The atmosphere differs from Elvenefris in that there is no 'eastern' vibe, but this is a good thing, in my opinion, as it has its own character.
Freedom, Hope and Fury is admittedly a notch weaker than Elvenefris, mainly because it is not quite as 'epic' as the latter, but it's still a fantastic, noteworthy release (think about what you're comparing it to!)
For fans of Lykathea Aflame (who somehow haven't stumbled upon this yet), or for any fans of extreme music in general, I highly recommend this album.
