3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | December 11th 19 | It's cool. It clearly is a prep for Mista Thug Isolation, with less atmosphere but more tongue-in-cheek lyrics (he doesn't seem depressed yet). Very good for a first mixtape, but apart from being his first output, nothing makes this stand out.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | May 28th 16 | The use of satire and a good sense of irony are powerful weapons in music if wielded by the right hands. Travis Miller knows this all too well, and while under the Lil Ugly Mane name, he's done it as well as I've seen anyone. Playaz Circle, from a sonic standpoint, takes root in Memphis hip-hop as while as styles heard further into the south. Lyrically, he seems to be poking fun at some of the horrorcore topics and general braggadocios violence that groups like Three Six Mafia rolled with, but hints at something a little more serious in nature throughout. The interesting thing is, he clearly loves and respects this style of hip-hop, or else he wouldn't know how to take the piss out of it so effectively. That being said, it's not all fun and games either, as the second verse to the title-track will show you. Playaz Circle isn't nearly as good as what was to come, but in the scheme of things, it's a necessary listen for fans of Ugly.
