Review Summary: Trying Something New.......

Let me start by saying that this review will be brief and to the point, considering the EP is so short. It is only meant to give people an idea of what they can expect:

Colours is a band recently formed by previous musicians of the hardcore band Burden of a Day. A couple years after their breakup, four of the five members came together and decided to start this alternative project. However, they went about as far in the other direction as a band can go from how they used to sound. Whether or not fans will accept it is yet to be decided.

In this EP of only four songs, the guys step well outside of their comfort zone from the beginning, and give the listener a heavy dose of pure emotion. From the beginning of the album to the end, it's clear what type of sound they want to have. There is an honesty throughout the lyrics of all the songs, and the listener can easily connect with the messages being delivered. Instrumentally, there isn't anything special or out of the ordinary. You could expect to hear some synth, piano, and lightly distorted guitars throughout all songs. But what makes this band work is that they are clearly in it for the emotion, not for the purpose of showing off. What truly shines on this album though is the vocals. Kyle T. has one hell of a range, and he doesn't hold anything back. Track 2: 'The Machine', is a perfect example of how capable he is of leading a song without all the screaming he previously did. Throughout the four songs, the band is consistent, and creates a relaxing fun vibe that anyone could enjoy.

There's honestly not much that can be said about four songs. But everything that can be said is positive. This band is independently labeled right now, and need as much support as we can give them. If possible, I would highly recommend buying the EP on itunes and supporting a great group of honest musicians. Hopefully, we can see a full length album sometime in the near future.
