This is Link 80's third and last recorded album. Link 80 is known to be a blend of hardcore and ska, hence their label skacore. This album really puts meaning to the hardcore essence in Link 80. The Struggle Continues... was recorded in 1999, and its label is Asian Man Records, just like its other two albums, Killing Katie and 17 Reasons....
Ryan Noble, the vocals of Link 80 for this album, contributed to an abrupt change in Link 80's sound Nick's departure. The band's sound made the transition from a fast ska-punk/core to a harder but a bit slower skacore sound. There is also an obvious change in lyrics on this album compared to the other two. The lyrics on 17 Reasons… and Killing Katie are mostly about going against the rest and sometimes more immature while this album's lyrics are mainly about inner conflicts. If you are expecting this to sound similar at all to Link 80's previous albums, you might want to think again. It's almost as if it's a completely different band.
The first song on this album, Addiction, represents the new current Link 80 very well. It's hard with fast punk-like singing that are balanced with a great horn section, skacore at its best. The album achieves a few different levels of ska, with songs like Addiction (Resist in G Minor, Time for Change), calmer ones yet still fast(Face Down, Peril After Peril, Right Hook), and others that don't really fit in with the majority of the songs (My Girl, Nothing Left). It's pretty cool that they have two covers on this album, My Girl and Nothing New, because most bands don't have covers on their albums, unless it's not a normal CD (Split, tribute album, collection of live tracks, etc.). Another cool thing is that they have an awesome hidden song. I guess this could be considered another cover, but technically it's not. It's basically a more ska version of the original one, and it's maybe 30 seconds longer.
If you have heard any of the songs on this album and liked it go pick it up. There are a lot of Link 80 fans who don't like Ryan Noble-fronted Link 80, but I still think he did a good job at taking over on vocals.
