Review Summary: Overall, Every track has their own unique style to it.
Overall if you try to compare Kill Hannah to the awful mainstream rockers we got out there aka the Jonas Brothers. Then you would find that Kill Hannah is an alright band. Kill Hannah was formed by singer-songwriter Mat Devine in 1993. The band is named after Devine's ex-girlfriend. At the time, Devine was singing and playing guitar in a band called In a Jar UK. After the fallout with Hannah, Devine printed up stickers to place on In a Jar UK 7" records bearing the name "Kill Hannah."
Kill Hannah recorded their Atlantic Records debut For Never & Ever in Los Angeles in the winter of 2003 with producer Sean Beavan and mixer Tim Palmer. The album was mostly re-recorded versions of back-catalog songs and numbers that had been performed live for about a year prior. Each track its own unique style that brings a lot of personality to the album. Kill Hannah certainly brings a healthy dose of glam to alternative pop/rock on For Never & Ever Kill Hannah so well -- and they do it with an attractive sound that could be described as a blend of Garbage, the Smashing Pumpkins, Republica, and My Bloody Valentine. Anyone who complains that rock isn't as much fun as it once was needs to pay close attention to For Never & Ever, which paints a consistently exciting picture of the Chicago-based alternative-rockers. Next i will explain each track one by one and rate it
1.They Can't Save Us Now. This track does feel like a true album opener. With the thundering bass beats and Mat delivering lyrics on cue with no hesitation, which leads up to the chorus with mat singing what else they can't save us now. 4/5
2.Kennedy. Kill Hannah's trademark song only cousin to their biggest hit Lips Like Morphine. Overall the best this album has to offer. 5/5
3.10 More Minutes With You. The more sensual song on the album. the most notable detail that this song has to offer the amazing guitar work, and how overall simple it is to execute. 4.3/5
4. New Heart for Christmas. This song has basically the same structure as 10 more minutes with you except in synthetic form. But other than that its a pretty average Kill Hannah track. Great title average song. 2.5/5
5. Boys and Girls. Now this is what I am talking about. An upbeat tune perfectly executed singing. you can play this song at a dance club and you will get the whole shaken. 4.8/5
6. From Now On. One of the more fast driven songs on the album. The verse is kind of hard to keep track of but when it opens into the chorus it is very atmospherically executed, and will make it memorable. 3.7/5
7. Raining All the Time. Basically the chorus of from now on executed into a verse chorus verse format. overall one of the biggest highlights of the album. 4.4/5
8. Race the Dream. This song is more synthetic ordinated than the other songs on the album, that's not a bad thing and it is probably the third best song on the album only to Kennedy, and Boys and Girls. 4.7/5
9. Unwanted. The worst song on the album. At first it sounded like an emo pop song, but if you are a Kill Hannah fan like me then you will learn to get over it. If your not still get over it. 2/5
10. Is Anyone Here Alive. This song has a very similar feel to the first track the can't save us now which is good thing. Just basically Kill Hannah at one of their best. 4/5
11. No One Dreams Anyway. The last song on the album and this song has more of a shoegaze fell to it. Overall, pretty good. 3/5
