Review Summary: Pulverizing anger management
Now this is a riot!
Some fun folks from Philly recorded six songs averaging in about minute and a half in length. It can mean only one thing: grind
But not your average run of the mill generic grindcore bastardised in the form of powerviolence, but a really intensified take on d-beat filled straight in your face punk. Dirty, powerful and uncompromising.
Every song is enchanted with hard as nails rock/swing rhythm that makes ‘em short but sweet and memorable.
Sweet in a kind-of-cathartic-way when you need to release steam and unwind after somebody raised your anger levels to pre postal planing.
Top of the lungs hardcore shouting melts into screaming (none of that sissy metalcore stuff, just plain good ‘ol school vocal cord ravaging that’s kinda off key all the time) and growlin. Giving off that I dont give a beep vibe. You know, the kind bands pulled in early 90’s death/grind era before all this plastic over production that sucked the life out of bands, even the ones proclaimed DIY.
It all sounds so crunchy yet wonderfully human (thus - filthy).
The drummer probably keeps imagining his boss's head because he keeps plummeting even when guitars and vocals back off, encouraging them to join in and murder the negative emotions that most likely initiated the band in the first place.
The feeling of pure hatred and disgrace for being human is portrayed on the cover alone by a simple diagram that can probably be translated into lyrics (I was not able to get a hold of ‘em).
It’s not complex, genre expanding, multi contextual peace of fine musicianship. And if it wore, this kind of album would not be worth a damn.
It’s six shots in the embodiment of your frustrations and transcendence above the self image of law abiding citizen you probably are like the rest of us.
Punk attitude in the full meaning of the word.
Standing up for yourself when it means the most and caring for things that matter.
